How to re-install Memory-Map

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to completely clean out all the data and settings from the Memory-Map application and start over with a fresh installation. This article shows how.

This assumes you are using Windows 10 and the latest version of Memory-Map.

  1. First, uninstall the application:
    • Press the Windows key > Settings > Apps
    • Find Memory-Map 6 in the list, and click Uninstall
    • Click the Uninstall button in the pop up to confirm the uninstall
    • Press Yes if prompted
    • Also uninstall other Memory-Map apps, if they are listed
       
  2. Next, delete your maps and data files.
    • Launch Windows File Explorer
    • Open the C: drive
    • Open the folder Users
    • Open the folder for your profile (note: this is normally your name)
    • Open the folder App Data
    • Open the folder Roaming
    • Delete the folder named Memory-Map
    • Press Back
    • Open the folder named Local
    • Delete the folder named Memory-Map License
    • Press Back until you are back to the page showing the contents of the C: drive
    • Open the folder Program Data
    • Delete the folder named Memory-Map License
    • Press Back until you are back to the page showing the contents of the C: drive
    • Delete the folders Maps and/or Maps_V5
    • Press Back until you are back to the page listing the drives on the PC
    • Select Documents from the left hand pane
    • Delete the folder named Map Overlays
       
  3. Next, delete the settings stored in the Windows Registry
    • Hold down the Windows key on the keyboard, and press the Q key to open the search box
    • Type regedit and press Enter
    • Click Yes at the security warning
    • Press the arrow next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    • Press the arrow next to SOFTWARE
    • Right click on Memory-Map
    • Select Delete
    • Press Yes if prompted
       
  4. Now you can Re-install the app from scratch
    • Download and install a fresh copy of Memory-Map from HERE
    • Open the Memory-Map app from the desktop, and click the Help > License Management menu command
    • Click Sign In, and enter your user name and password.
    • Still in the License Information dialog, click Online Info
    • In the page that opens in your web browser, click RECOVER LICENSE
    • Check that the "Recent Sign-in" device is selected in the drop-down menu, and click Recover
    • Download and open the license info file. This restores all your activated licenses on the computer
       
  5. Re-download your maps
    • Back in the License Management, Online Info web site, click HISTORY
    • In the "My Packages", click on the package you purchased
    • In the "Package Contents", click the Get Maps link
    • Click the Download link, and use your browser's Save As option to place the file in a suitable location on your drive.
